The CLEARTEST Humanofecal is a qualitative, lateral flow immunoassay for the detection of human occult blood in stool samples. The test can detect even low concentrations of FOB in stool samples. Double sandwich antibodies are used to selectively detect FOB at a concentration of 40 ng/ml or higher or 4,8 μg/g in the stool sample.
The test is intended for professional in vitro use only.
Many diseases can cause blood in stool, also called faecal occult blood (FOB), human occult blood or human haemoglobin. Gastrointestinal problems, such as colon cancer, ulcers, polyps, colonic catarrh, diverticular inflammation or fissures, often do not yet show visible symptoms in the early stages, but only occult blood. Traditional guaiac-based methods lack sensitivity and accuracy and also have dietary requirements that must be followed before testing.
